There are many different ways to use technology in the classroom. A great way to increase collaboration in the classroom is by using technology driven project based learning. Setting students up in the groups to collaboratively use the computer to access information or games is a great way to not only increase technological skills but also social skills. California just passed a bill to increase technology spending to further enhance their standards based computer science curriculum, which is 1 of only 7 states with such standards. It discusses not if, but how technology is appropriate and in the best interest of students and teachers. I was recently in a technology meeting at my school and we discussed not getting behind the times- my principal discussed how fear is what is guiding many people in technology but that all great things started with fear. She said Socrates was fearful of writing his thoughts down, she also said that when the Brooklyn Bridge was built, P.T. Barnum was paid to put his elephants on the bridge to make sure it was sound and secure before anyone would cross it... these stories make up our history ...

https://twitter.com/edtechh/status/1140868691866898433 This article discusses several advantages to modern day use of technology in the classroom- some which I have never thought of. One advantage it discusses is allowing students to submit their work online and then receive their grades in real-time. Gone are the days where students had to wait weeks to get their papers back. Another advantage is the increase of communication between the students and teachers. If a student has question on an assignment, the teacher can quickly reply without stopping class or long-winded answers. This opens the door to not only communicating about school work but also personal or social problems in school. A third advantage of technology used in the classroom is the obvious less paper use and providing students with interactive textbooks and models. The last advantage this article discussed is the use of English translating websites and apps that allow foreign students to learn and receive better e...
